OPEN YOUR (H)EAR(T)

OPEN YOUR (H)EAR(T) è un progetto che nasce nel 2006 dall’incontro tra Luca Ciut e la coppia di ballerini Mara Maranzana e Michele Usoni. L’idea fu quella di organizzare un workshop sulla musicalità nel tango - argomento spesso trascurato o trattato con superficialità o ignorato totalmente - con l’intento di fornire ai ballerini delle solide conoscenze e degli strumenti utili per iniziare a sviluppare il concetto di interpretazione della musica.

Soggetto iniziale di questo studio è il ritmo, strumento chiave per la comprensione delle fondamentali caratteristiche di un brano e prosegue esplorando i singoli elementi musicali, indagandone le possibilità interpretative. Udine, Milano, Torino, Ferrara, Firenze, Riga (Lettonia), Zagabria (Croazia), Heidelberg (Germania), Monaco (Germania) sono le città dove Luca ha svolto o continua a tenere lezioni e stage.

OPEN YOUR (H)EAR(T)

Dancing is a very personal way of expression and a form of art usually very linked to the music. This is more true in some dances where the music has been composed and played expressly to be danced. Tango is one of these and we have to start changing our way of listening to the music in order to be able to understand better what’s happening and how to express our personal feelings.

Main subject of the workshop is the rhythm, as a unique tool to be used in order to understand the fundamental characteristics of the piece and the kind of music that we are going to dance. Starting from the beat, understanding what it is, clarifing the idea of “tiempo and doble tiempo”, using this tools to make music while dancing, discovering deeply what it can offer. Since today, the project did take place in several cities in Italy and abroad: Udine, Milano, Torino, Ferrara, Firenze, Riga (Latvia), Zagreb (Croatia), Heidelberg (Germany), Munich (Germany).

Born in 2006, OPEN YOUR (H)EAR(T) has been created thanks to Mara Maranzana & Michele Usoni, young Italian dancers and teachers from Udine who suggested and supported the idea of this specific work upon the interpretation of music in tango.

LEZIONI

La natura del progetto è di carattere cadenzale, e trova la sua massima efficacia in stage intensivi che si svolgono di norma nei week end. Le lezioni sono sempre pratiche, legate al movimento, alla logica del tango, e si sviluppano in modo armonico attraverso esercizi specifici ideati appositamente per risolvere le problematiche del ballo.

Ampio spazio viene dedicato al ritmo, strumento fondamentale per la comprensione dei fenomeni musicali e la maturazione nel ballo, ma non vengono nemmeno trascurati altri aspetti importanti per la comprensione della musica come il timbro, la dinamica, la struttura di un brano, tutti sempre rapportati alla logica e l’utilità del contesto coreutico.

LESSONS

The workshop is about music and musicality, and is lead in a very practical and physical way: clapping hands, walking, working in small groups, and of course dancing. All the exercises are created in order to solve some particular musical problem, and are always linked to the final goal, the movement.

The rhythm will be wide developped because of its great importance in the pedagogic process of understanding many of the musical elements. Beside this, other subjects of the lessons among others are the comprehension of the dynamic, the sound, the structure of a piece.

LUCA

Luca Ciut, musicista e compositore, si è da sempre interessato alle fusione tra musica e movimento, immagine e suono, e alle potenzialità legate all’interazione tra questi elementi. Nel tango propone un percorso didattico legato all’approfondimento di specifiche tematiche musicali e al loro utilizzo nel ballo. Diplomato in composizione al Conservatorio di Udine svolge attività didattica dal 1998.

Ha studiato tango argentino con Mara Maranzana e Michele Usoni, giovani insegnanti e ballerini di Udine. I suoi principali punti di riferimento stilistico nel corso di questi anni sono stati Federico Rodriguez Moreno e Alberto Colombo. Ha studiato inoltre con altri insegnanti come Pablo Inza e Moira Castellano, Sebastian Arce e Mariana Montes, Pablo Veron, Martin Gutiérrez e Carolina Pizzo, Federico Naveira e Ines Muzzopappa.

LUCA

Luca Ciut, musician and composer, has always been interested in the interaction between different kind of arts, particulary between music and movement. He has been working for movie, tv, theater and contemporary dance. Starting to dance tango, he got interested in the opportunity to express the movement in a strong link with the music and he is working on to develop this idea. Bachelor in Composition at Music Conservatory of Udine, he teaches music since 1998.

He has been studied with Mara Maranzana and Michele Usoni, young teachers and dancers from Udine, Italy. Among others he’s been infuenced by the style of Federico Rodriguez Moreno and Alberto Colombo. He has been studied also with other well known teachers such as Pablo Inza and Moira Castellano, Sebastian Arce and Mariana Montes, Pablo Veron, Martin Gutiérrez and Carolina Pizzo, Federico Naveira and Ines Muzzopappa.
